Marblehead's town hall, home to Archibald Willard's Spirit of '76 — the iconic three Revolutionary patriots: fife, drum, flag. Also has the original 1684 town deed from the Nanepashemet. Free, parking right there, accessible.
Short drive (or 10-minute walk if anyone's up for it) to the harbor mouth. A small Revolutionary War earthwork with cannon emplacements and panoramic views of Marblehead Harbor and Salem Sound. Park lot is essentially at the fort — minimal walking once there. Benches.

Route 128 north to Route 1A — pleasant North Shore drive through Beverly, Hamilton, into Ipswich.
The Great House is a 59-room 1928 Stuart-style mansion overlooking Crane Beach and the Atlantic. The drive up the Grand Allée to the house is itself spectacular.

If you've still got steam on the way back. Russell Orchards is the one that works for everyone — apple cider donuts are universal. Mary can sit out the clam box.
